Mafia

Strengths: Good storyline and presentation

Weakness: Really slow and boring driving missions

Mafia is a good story driven game about a taxi driver that gets pulled into the mob and must make his way up the ranks. The game is set in the 1930's and does a good job of pulling you into the era. This may be it's greatest asset and it's greatest downfall, though. While 1930's gangsters is an interesting premise, making a game that relies on driving cars that go a maximum of 60 mph is not. The...

Strengths: Successfully captures the 30's mob scene.

Weakness: Less than exciting action. Long load times.

Mafia does a great job when it comes to authenticity. It really brings the 30's to life with its style, guns, and cars. The game has solid production values, sound, and graphics, but nothing that will blow you away. If you've played all the GTA games but still want more, well, this a great way to join the mob. I have to say though I found the action kind of boring. It plays a lot slower than...

Mafia

Strengths: Interesting concept and storyline

Weakness: Slooooow driving speed, too much loading

Mafia is the kind of game I wanted to love but it wouldn't love me back. The press billed Mafia as a GTA game set in the 1930's and I was all over it at first. Early on in the game, Mafia is almost unplayable. You'll be doing a lot of driving back and forth, very slowly, across a huge city that likes to load (for long periods of time) far too often. I know the developers didn't want super fast...

Mafia

Strengths: Storyline

Weakness: Not as good as the PC Version, sloppier graphics, controls

The game features an incredible storyline, but is also hindered by many problems. First off, there are just too many driving sequences early on in the game. Some missions require you to drive across town, and since the cars do not control well, going too fast can cause you to fishtail and lose control. Also, if you do not drive the speed limit, cops will chase you down and fine you which only add...

Strengths: Storyline, GTA like gamestyle

Weakness: Driving is brutal and camera angles

Mafia for the Xbox is basically a Grand Theft Auto game set in the 30's. You rise from a foot soldier in the mob to a respected mobster. The action is decent, but the load times and driving make this game tough to fall in love with the game. Seriously, who thought driving 25 miles an hour without the ability to steer effectively was fun? The graphics are a little weak and suffer from low frame...
