Viewtiful Joe is a fun, original 2D action game. The defining feature of this game is the player's ability to slow down or speed up time to fight many enemies at once. The graphics and sound are great and the action never gets boring. Performing stylish moves or large combos earns you points that can be used to increase your life meter or learn new moves. The game overall, and particularly the boss battles are challenging. An easy mode is available but it's really worth it to fight through normal mode to get the most out of this game.

This game is GREAT FUN - from slow...

Strengths: great side scroller action game.. very innovative but old school at the same time.. extremely fun and addicting; challenging but not difficult

Weakness: some may not like the cartoonish graphics, but it's not that bad.. the enemies can be a little repetitive

This game is GREAT FUN - from slow mode to mach speed to zoom, you have a variety of skills that allow you to kick some major butt! A huge recommendation to buy this game now!

Your girlfriend gets kidnapped and pulled into the film you're watching. You follow, and turn into Viewtiful Joe, your super-hero alter-ego. What goes from there turns into an off-beat and funny beat-'em-up, where the action goes fast and the thinking goes even faster.

It's simple to start with, and keeps you interested. Challenging and fun, and worth every penny of the money. A must-have for the Gamecube.

Fun fast paced and cool. This game has a great story line and has a strange sense of humor. Funny and strange this game is a must buy for all ages and gamers. A little challenging but really fun.

Viewtiful Joe is an brave and original offering from a newly formed development team at Capcom. The team is comprised of many skilled developers and it currently focuses on creating new and original games. Viewtiful Joe is a total success. At first, you may think that it is a simple game because of the graphics and 2d movement, however, the game demands that you master the different fighting moves and special effect powers in order to get past the villians. The special effect powers are truly unique and make the fighting very entertaining. In addition, you will be faced with many puzzles that require a special effect power to be used in a certain way, often in conjunction with a certain fighting style. The puzzles are creative and for the most part logical once you figure them out. The boss monsters are a real challenge and require multiple attempts until you figure out their secret and/or pattern to take advantage of. This, too, is very "old-school", however, everything in Viewtiful Joe is more enjoyable if you use the special effect powers to their fullest. I purchased this game at full price and am very happy with it. It actually has a lot of replay value since the focus is on the action and it provides a lengthy experience.
