When you hear the word Metal Gear, you always think of a sneaking game where you can control your character right? Wrong, not this time! Although the sneaking aspect is still in the game, you cannot control your character like the past Metal Gear games. Instead, you have to use cards to move your character. I know this may sound weird at first but it is actually not. You play this game like any card games, except the rules aren't as complicated like the newer card games out today. Each card has a "cost" to it. The lower cost you use a turn means the quicker it will be for your turn. The higher it is the longer it will take until your turn. It may sound confusing now, but the game actually explains it very well. This game has very good graphics and an excellent story/plot. Only weak points to this game is that there are no voice acting whatsoever, but instead you have to read, and you have to read A LOT! This game is also not for everyone. There are some fans of the Metal Gear series who enjoy this game, and there are some who will not. It all depends on your taste for games. I myself enjoy it very much!

Overall, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys strategy/card games. For those who does not know if they will like it or not, I suggest renting first.

This is definitely a game geared towards the more cerebral Metal Gear Solid fans, ones who have played the PS2 or the Xbox versions as a tactician. For those used to playing MGS more as an action adventure with direct user input, this game will fail miserably in recreating that experience.

As a turn-based card strategy card game, this game melds two genres of gaming into one. The turn based aspect of the game will resemble some Final Fantasy Tactics, or X-com, or Jagged Alliance. Those three standard bearers of turn based strategy should hint to the aspect of this Metal Gear. The card game is similar to a Pokemon game, except that the cards are also used as action pieces...literally you have to use one to be able to move. Some people might be turned off to this fact. However, it was intuitive to me to be able to use a card as a function to use and to move. It wasn't that hard for me. Combat is achieved by strategizing which card to use and at which appropiate time. Sometimes, if you build a deck wrong, you will find it hard to combat the enemies at that state. Trial and error will be used often. I find it challenging to prepare for "battle" using certain cards gained from those trial and error experiences. Your mileage may vary.

Again, the game uses the whole 16:9 screen which in turn does a great job with particles and effects from explosions, guns, and assorted special effects. There is a slight showdown sometimes, but it isn't a showstopper--> more like a 2ms lag. Sounds is pretty nice, with guns sounding different and discrete. "Sharp" sounding is an adjective I would use. Strategy gamers on the PSP platform should definitely pick this up.

The first 5 minutes of this games...

Strengths: + Allows an avid gamer to get some sleep.

Weakness: - Long storyline, - Weird concept of controls

The first 5 minutes of this games was a huge turn off. It's okay for a game to have a storyline, but not a story so long that you ending reading more than playing. Really tried hard to like this game, but unfortunately this game was quite disappointing.

If I wanted to read I would have...

Strengths: Hmm...can't think of any except graphics look alright

Weakness: Movement of caractor is poor. Reading the game just isn't fun.

If I wanted to read I would have bought a book. Moving the caractor by using cards is a strange concept. I don't think this game was well thought out.

Metal Gear Acid is a card-based strategy game based around the Metal Gear license. This is the first card game that I have ever played, and I'd have to say that I enjoyed it. I liked how all the cards were related to things that I was already familiar with from playing the previous Metal Gear games, so I think that helped me ease into the gameplay. I thought the decks of cards which are randomly generated are pretty fun, but it can get aggravating waiting for a card that you want to come up. Even so, I thouroughly enjoyed this game and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
