Ultimate Alliance is an excellent action game. You have a huge selection of Marvel characters to choose from. In each mission, you pick a group of characters and each one has unique strength and skills. You can switch characters to take advantage of their unique strengths during the game. Comic Enthusiasts' Must Have
Strengths: Great graphics with lots of Characters to choose from; X-Men, Fantastic Four, and lots of solo heroes. Easy to learn attacks and lots of specialty moves.
Weakness: Some of the missions can get tedious. Can only save progress at certain check points.
No disappointment here: Characters, costumes, armor and abilities can be unlocked. Game has lots of different missions with lots to do. Impressive super hero action and tons of fight scenes.

Excellent
Although this is better on the WII, it's an excellent PS2 game, as well. I bought this for my son and he has not stopped playing it. And, he is a huge critic-- very picky with games.
